Day 7
7 days of daily blogging and I must admit, I’m
enjoying it a lot. It’s really nice to focus my mind on something in my ‘own’
time – time that might otherwise go to scrolling aimlessly through social
media. The feedback I’ve been getting is nothing but positive and I’m
absolutely loving that people are recommending me to areas of interests because
they’ve been reading the posts. The concept of putting myself out there online
still feels a bit uncomfortable but that’s partly why I decided this would be a
worthy challenge.
In celebration of blogging for a week, I thought I’d make a start on my goal
list from Saturday’s post. Goal number one: to put more creative content
online. So, below is a YouTube video of a song I recorded about 3 years ago. It’s
a cover and the video is pretty bizarre but it’s what I decided to make at the
time (feel free to judge, I would). It’s actually been publically online since
I made it but I released it on a hidden YouTube account and never posted it
on any of my social media’s, so nobody I know (except a few family members) are
aware that it exists. I have decided to revamp this YouTube channel and I’m going
to use it to put up content regularly from now on – I’m thinking of committing
to uploading on a weekly basis between now and the end of the year? I ask you
blog readers to hold me accountable to such a challenge! Subscribe if you wish.
I know… it’s bizarre, but it’s art and it’s fun, what else can I say. Also, I’m slightly more youthful, have longer hair and a nose ring in this video. (I hope my girlfriend doesn’t react the same way she did to the picture on my drivers license). There’s more content on the account, incase you wanted to check it out.

As for this post, I thought I’d do a nice
reflection on the week:
Things I have noticed since I started this blog.
1. I’ve been on social media a lot less.
You’d probably think that I’d spend more time on social media because I’ve been
a lot more active on it; posting every day. Actually, focusing my mind on writing
this has eaten into the time I would typically have a quick (and mostly
pointless) scroll through Twitter’s feed and/or get mindlessly lost in the Insta-atmosphere.
I’ve still been watching YouTube videos (Casey lacking on the uploads) but I
count that as informative media – it’s not very social.
2. I’ve found that my creative flow has increased.
My high functioning mind, mixed with copious amounts of coffee and all the endorphins
from exercise mean my ideas are often exploding around my head. Since I started
writing this blog I’m having lots of ideas and I’m thinking quicker than usual,
yet with a lot more clarity of how I could materialize these ideas. It’s probably
something to do with the fact that this blog is manifesting into a platform to
put these ideas into process.
3. I’ve discovered that blogging is
therapy.
Putting ideas and thoughts down on paper is therapeutic. I guess it’s sort of
similar to talking things through or speaking thoughts out loud. Writing these
posts gives me a genuine kick and without sounding to profound, it’s relaxing.
4. I’ve been occupied.
Although a hectic schedule can be stressful, I much prefer to be busy than have
nothing to do. I’ve said before that I think the worst thing you can do in life
is not use time to its full potential. That’s not to say rest and recovery aren’t
important (athlete talk), but I just find myself enjoying life a lot, getting
excited and generally being more productive when I have a lot on. The quote is
something like, “Ask the busiest person you know to do something and they’ll
have it done tomorrow, ask someone with nothing to do and they’ll never get it
done.”
5. I’ve been running.
I’ve ran 82km (50 miles) over the last 7 days, this isn’t any different to
usual but I love running. Since it’s my blog I just wanted to tell you about it.
(Follow me on Strava). Picture from this morning’s 8.5 miler below.

7 out of 30 days. When is it an activity
done consecutively classes a habit?
Who knows, I might even carry this on beyond the 30 day challenge…!
Peace & love.
